Doug Benson

Douglas D. Benson MSPT, graduated from UMDNJ with a Master of Science Degree in Physical therapy. He became a State of New Jersey Board Certified Physical Therapist in 2000 and has now been practicing orthopedic manual physical therapy for over 22 years.
Doug was introduced to the field of PT after suffering his own ACL injury and going through the rehabilitation process.

After understanding the integral role that a professional physical therapist has in the recovery process, he became passionate about the field of PT and desired to understand how the human body heals best.

Doug has applied his therapeutic experience in the areas of manual manipulation, deep muscle activation, myofascial release techniques, joint mobilization, ASTYM techniques, neuromuscular re-education, individualized therapeutic exercise programs, home exercise guidance, individualized post-treatment maintenance plans and personally tailored strength and conditioning principles.

Doug has developed a specialized therapeutic boutique style approach, focusing on time under tension strategies to aid in stimulating the body’s own natural physilological healing response. His method is firmly substantiated within a compendium of evidence-based researched practices, continual professional-specialized educational training, and a ‘hands on’ experience which has led him to have successful outcomes managing several musculoskeletal disorders of all ages.

As sole owner of Premier PT for the past 14 years, Doug’s vision is to provide the best PT care to the community, which most corporate therapy outfits are failing to provide. His tailored and individual client based treatment approach serves a wide range of pre and post-operative surgeries, age related mobility concerns, sports injuries, motor vehicle accident traumas and overall health and body wellness.
